Leading Expert on the law of Piracy & Terrorism Stephen Askins joins the TugAdvise team

We are delighted to announce that Stephen Askins is today joining the City based firm of Tatham Macinnes LLP, Marine Solicitors, the people behind TugAdvise, the specialist legal service dedicated to the tug and offshore support vessel sector.

He is acknowledged as a leading Admiralty and dry shipping lawyer having spent 25 years at Ince & Co., including 10 years in Piraeus.

A former Royal Marine, Stephen is best known for his expertise on piracy, maritime terrorism and the use of armed guards at sea

He has managed many of the more serious piracy and hostage incidents in recent times in both West and East Africa

Libya, Crimea, the Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Guinea and now Yemen are likewise complex environments for tug and offshore vessel operators. Stephen was involved in the drafting of specific charterparty clauses and advises operators on the complex legal issues that arise

He also has a huge amount of experience dealing with all contentious maritime issues including salvage.
