Vessel sinks in the English Channel – TugAdvise are acting for the owners and underwriters of the tug “Christos XXII”

Christos XXII

TugAdvise attended in Brixham and then Portland, on the UK’s South coast following the capsize and sinking of the “EMSSTROM” which developed a list under tow and then sank. Whilst the tug anchored to start giving salvage assistance, the two vessels unfortunately made contact and then the tug began to take on water. Assistance was provided by the RLNI, Royal Navy and finally by the two tugs, BRENT and HELLAS, of the consortium of Mammoet, Gigilinis and Iskes who operate two tugs in the area. Eventually under LOF the tug was dewatered and brought safely into Portland. Meanwhile the MAIB and SOSREP became involved.
