Adrian began his career in the administration of Lloyd’s Form of Salvage Agreement, collecting salvage security, appointment of arbitrators, and publication and collection of awards in what is today known as The Salvage Arbitration Branch at the Corporation of Lloyd’s.

He moved to the legal profession, working for most of his career at Shaw and Croft, at the time a leading Admiralty law firm in London, where he was Senior Marine Manager working with Mike Lacey amongst other well known practitioners. He then by five years at Waltons & Morse before joining TugAdvise in 2016.

Adrian specialises in all aspects of marine salvage, having represented many major members of the International Salvage Union, as well as shipowners, and more recently, cargo interests.

Senior partner Simon Tatham says:

“I am very pleased to welcome Adrian to TugAdvise and to Tatham Macinnes.

Adrian and I worked for four years together and he is well known to the team here.  He is also highly respected in the market.  He has enormous experience, having handled major cases acting not only for salvors (for which is he best known) but also on the other side of the fence for owners and cargo.

We have created a team, based on experience, which we believe is second to none.  With the addition of Adrian we add yet further depth, expertise and manpower. Crucially for those clients looking for a large team we have the strength and depth to respond at all levels to the requirements of the very most demanding cases.  This requires not only a knowledge of the law but also familiarity with the technical aspects of a casualty and all the issues that can follow, the ability not only to collect but also critically analyse evidence,  the time-consuming aspects of multi-bill of lading cargo cases and last but not least the confidence to take the lead resolving issues with confidence, saving our clients both time and costs. We are investing in people and systems at a time when we see others backing away from this narrow field.

I look forward to introducing Adrian to our clients.”
