John Reeder QC

Sadly we report that John Reeder QC died in hospital on 22nd October after a short illness.

John was working to the end and had advised only in recent weeks on salvage matters. He had been a consultant with the team here since 2013 following his retirement from day to day advocacy.

We understand that a small funeral with friends and family will take place at Bridlington, Yorkshire where he lived the last few years with his wife of 25 years, Pauline.

John was a leading Admiralty QC, a Lloyd’s Arbitrator and Appeal Arbitrator. He was editor of former editions of Brice on Maritime Law of Salvage and Lowndes & Rudolf on the Law of General Average.

He will be greatly missed.

Any friends, former colleagues or clients who wish to make contact or a donation to a charity to mark his memory are requested to make contact with the firm.

Update:

John Reeder’s funeral will take place on Monday 9th November at 3:30 in the afternoon. For further details please contact Simon Tatham.  Donations to the RSPCA.
